French Alphabet and Number Online Speaking Activities!

Looking for some fun online speaking activities to do with your beginner French students for learning the alphabet and numbers?  Have students record their own voice to practice, using the online tools, Blabberize, Voki, and Vocaroo.  

With Blabberize, students can choose any photo, put a moving mouth on it, and add their voice to it to make it speak! With Voki, students create a speaking avatar, and with Vocaroo, students can record their own voice, or a conversation with a partner.  

This product comes with Blabberize and Voki models for students, instruction templates, and requirement checklists.  It also includes a student version, and teacher version for notes on the numbers 1-100 , and for the alphabet.  Finally, there is a written assessment that has a matching section for numbers, and a listening section for the alphabet.

French Classes vs. Spanish Classes Cinco de Mayo Soccer Games!

If you are looking for a fun activity for the World Language Department at your school, I have a great one for you that I used to do with my students at the middle school, and at the high school. I got this idea from another Spanish teacher in the district, and then expanded on it. Since Cinco de Mayo is celebrated because the Mexicans beat the French in the Battle of Puebla, have the French and Spanish classes at your school challenge each other to a soccer game as a way to "reenact" the battle! French Earth Day or Environmental Unit Vocabulary and Activities

Connais-tu Étienne?

Do your students have trouble remembering basic verb endings and other grammatical structures? Do they like music? Of COURSE, to both questions, I'm sure! Have you heard of Etienne? He's the coolest, according to my grade 7 & 8s. What I like about him is that the songs are in the target language, rather than some of the other "educational music" out there that is bilingual.

The other really cool thing, if you are just getting introduced to Etienne for the first time, is that his work is available for download on iTunes, so if you just want to try one song to see how your kids react to his music, it's a very inexpensive and low-risk investment. You can also play full songs from his web site. I do recommend purchasing his entire teaching packages, where you get the lyrics in photocopiable format, student activities and suggestions, and the CD all for one very reasonable price. Check out Pourquoi take French? (which is mostly in English, but is a really unique song that really hits home with the students, and they LOVE it!) and his song for teaching the possessive adjectives......

PS... Etienne also has products in SPANISH! Here is one sample song for Spanish ER verbs.

Passé Composé Lesson Plan

Need to review the passé composé with your French class, or to introduce it for the first time? I have an original lesson plan available for you for only $2.00.

Within a 40 minute period, your students can work in groups to deduce what the passé composé is and the rules of its formation (for regular verbs using avoir as the auxiliary verb), and then practice activities for the next class are also included. If you have a double period or a 75 minute class, this is perfect for you as well.

Free Door Hanger Decorations - in French!

Inspired by a freebie from another TpT seller (Ann Marie Smith of Innovative Connections), I made these French door hangers freebies.

I'd love to hear whether you think they are as cute as I do! Please leave me some feedback if you do download them.

If you don't have your own classroom, these can be useful even for a French teacher on a cart - you could keep them in your bins & use it as needed to explain why the door is closed for noisy group work, for example, or for when you've decided to take the class outside for an active learning session in the fresh air. And all French teachers are in need of incentives from time to time for their students, so there's one included that you can give to each of your students if you wish, or just to a select few as prizes! I'd be so hear from you to let me know if you (and your students) enjoyed this free product!

I'm wondering whether "Daily Physical Activity" or l'Activité Physique Quotidienne (DPA/APQ) is unique to Ontario or if other states and provinces have similar programs. Do you need to fit active periods into your regular teaching blocks, or is adequate gym time scheduled to meet the students' needs?
